The challenge is NOT to get polluted,not to fall prey, not to get
carried away, not to be fooled, both mentally and physically, by self or
otherwise.
The key to succeed in every and any challenge is to become conscious.
This is
achieved through knowledge. I am attempting to document my meditative observations,
interpretations, realizations under various categories
as I personally think I have reached the stage where I can clearly see
and am able to articulate the problem - our misery, be it a
country or an individual
.
As a responsible human and who understands freedom in its true sense, I
want to put forward my opinions - The right Attitude, The right thought,

the right process and the Way to Live. This is definitely a serious
mattere which influences an individual, which in turn influences the
surroundings,
society, culture, country and the whole world together. Hence we should
be knowledge thirsty and should have the energy,
enthusiasm, curiosity, patience and determination to quench the same, what ever it takes. "

Network should be spontaneous NOT forced

May be the ignorant managers of science or scientists came up with this thought that : 

If one brings together a group of scientists, there will be breakthroughs in science. Further to this they show the benefits of event managements, conferences etc. In that case, all the problems should have gotten solved by now.

But I truly doubt the intentions behind this or the objectives and success percentage. The initial attempts would have been a huge success because of ignorance/unconsciousness. But as genuine scientists become conscious of social networking concepts and conferences, they will back out from them else they will convinced by the event managers to consider these meetings  as paid vacations and official picnic spots. They will never be there for the seriousness or objective. It will be huge waste of time and money for the rest attending the events. 

It is not the analogy - when you bring a group of water droplets together and they spontaneously become a big drop. Hmm..I doubt that. Droplets dont have consciousness of existence, they donot have the concept of competition, they donot have the concept of survival. Come On!!

 

The essence behind conferences, events is simple: Dogbert's rules:  

Conferences, Event managements are typical business models and nothing else. Bigger the event, bigger the profit. Why ? bigger the registrants, fat will be the pocket. It will not be an exxageration to tell that for every registrant the event will spend, at max, 0.1x of the registration fee. The remaining is shared among the partners. Wow!! thats - making a killing. Host 2 such conferences per year, no need of a job and no need of working every day. Work for a month, thats it.

 

This is far easier than writing grants, discovering , stressing the mind, working 8hrs / day etc. Easy bucks, fast bucks. This is exactly what India is learning. Keep going ! It expects progress in science by this.

Thought Energy - The missing fundamental Energy

What is Energy: Energy is the ability/capability to do work. better explanation is on Wikipedia 

What is Work: Can be called the change in the Energy States. Wikipedia Explanation here

What is force: that entity which brings about the change of states based on the amount of energy possessed.  (more formal description is  on wikipedia )

One energy can be transformed in another and it cannot be destroyed. 

The world is trying come up with Universal laws which would describe every phenomenon that occurs in the Universe. I am of the feeling that we have not identified all the parameters of fundamental importance without which this effort will be futile. I think Thought Energy is the missing link, in my opinion.

This may not be any thing new but , I consider this as a political move to put this aspect in the dark since it is very difficult to have a hold on. The scientist practically has to transcend beyond mathematical/equation based thinking/space and identify the parameters without Bias or obsession, which for business purposes, the Capitalists who are the self claimed leaders of today's world, cannot afford to invest.

So, I think they have deliberately masked this energy concept from developing into a full fledged Science by it self. They drove the whole world to just go in the direction that can be shown or that can have an immediate materialistic application. Further these guys are envious of the progress made by India in this field. Patent concept is also for the same reasons. They wanted survival. Insecurity, Greed, Power thirst, Ego - typical examples of weak mind

Further thought energy can be understood only by a certain cream of intellectuals with meditative attitudes and certain broad personal characters which definitely cannot be pursued by power mongers and money launderers since they are always biased, driven by selfishness, ego and all forms of low level, animal instinct driven psyche.

Thought energy is some thing which has been understood for eons, especially in the country like India where Meditation started, nurtured and was exercised by every family till at least 20 years back when the society was at peace with out much unnecessary/ORGANIZED/CREATED disturbances.

Indian saints never cared for the mathematics or equations of a phenomenon. They just wanted to understand the phenomenon in its entirity which never gave them the time to quantify hence they passed their knowledge by orations. Their commitment to the world peace pushed them to occasionally visit the materialistic society and serve them by solving the ailments of society without loosing track of their objective.

You can imagine, how scientific and deep their understanding could have been that they identified medicines for almost every thing still maintaining the Mother Nature's Equilibrium. Thats the reason why saints in India used to get the highest deserved
respect and honor by the greatest leaders to the common man. Why are we not proud of our Country, our methodologies, our traditions, our culture and our way of peaceful coexistence and our own identity.

If you see the west and their philosophy of experiments, unless some one is sacrificed, they cannot prevent or cure an ailment that to the final product is totally unreliable in addition to all those terms and conditions. How ridiculous ? Those who are in India should listen/see to their (US) advertisements/commercials on tablets and pharma products. Its unbelievable they come with all terms and conditions and notices read within 30 seconds of the allotted advertisement time. All that is to avoid the risk of getting into legal problems but at the same time making billions of dollars from the under-validated drug tests or bought tests.

So, the bottom line is if one has to understand and quantify the life with universal principles, they have to accept that there is some form of energy which has been ignored for various reasons, which I am calling as thought energy and it is the missing link. It has to be understood in entirity. Further this thought energy can only be understood by sacrificing the social luxuries which the west cannot do it. So what it has done is : Basically it made life more interesting by stopping the progress in vertical direction/Dept and pushed all its energies for lateral directions, so to say to the extent that they CREATED NEEDS and compelled the society to fall prey to the needs. So, logically there is nothing great happening in science - in the true sense. 

If thought energy concept has to come back to Light and its application be applied to the world, a saint has to take birth and that to only in Countries like India.Indians live in such minimum necessities that their mind is most active hence intellectually at a different high levels. This enables them to go beyond normal thoughts and identify the new parameters to quantify the energy to convince the WEST (ridiculous standards though).

The question is : Why should we convince ? No need, Not necessary and we can say, who cares. The reason is : Today the whole country needs a fundamental, original, scientific and/or technological success story to start rebranding it self for which we need to play on the world stage since branding, marketing and unnecessary associated activies are starting right at that level. Personally I dont care.

Coming back to the Story of Thought Energy:

Here I try to describe on what premise we can call thoughts as Energy, associated things as thought force, thought work and others. 

As per definition: there should be capability to do work. This is very obvious and it is experienced by every human on a day to day basis. 

Consider a hypothetical Situation: 

You are asked to hear to a 10 - 15 mins Speech - say a motivational speech.

The experiment is: One Speech is in your language which you know and understand very well. The other speech is some other language which you never even heard of. 

What is the end result - You get motivated to do some thing - that is work. 

What is the possible process: You listen to speech, Understand it, Process it, consolidate it based on your prior knowledge and take a decision to work.

At the level of energy: Sound Energy enters ears - You are not conscious of the other processes - but that sound energy brings about a change in your state, it can be mechanical, chemical, electrical etc..

Take the next situation: Where you dont understand the language. 

The body is constant. The hearing is constant. Still at the end of the speech there is no change of state in you.

Lets analyse: The sound energy enters the ears but its not getting processed. 

Why its not getting processed - since you could not understand. 

First thing to be conscious of is: The input is mere sound energy which is reaching ears. So it is not getting into something which will enable you to understand. 

Once it is transformed into understandable form, it can be processed since the plane on which the understandable form and the processing will / are same now. 

Once the processing takes place, the understandable form gets packaged into a decision which gets transformed into other forms of energy which is work. 

So what has been ignored: The Understandable Form, The Processing, The place where all this processing is happening and the fastest transformation of various energies into this understandable form. 

That Understandable form is what I am calling the THOUGHT Energy which is existing but has been ignored. 

With this whole hypothetical example we have proved that : 

There exist an Important intermediary step where one form of energy is converted to some new form which takes the processing/intellectual decision making and then that new form is converted back to the known energy forms today. I have shown the work, the energy and the force by this hypothetical situation. 

So, Thought Energy exists and all this Thought Energy is part of the Meditation Exercises which India has been doing for 10000s of years. 

Once we mathematically quantify this energy, we will fill the gaps to develop a universal set of equations for describing life.

Managers and Scientists - The subtle

I personally consider it is unfortunate to write on differentiating between a scientist and a manager in a scientist position.

The values of science have fallen down to so low levels that it is almost taken for granted that a manager challenges saying that he can possibly get the same or even better results as any scientist can do, with his managerial skills. This is the confidence with which managers are proposing them selves and seems like they are becoming successful. 

So, what a manager in scientist position will do / can do  or is doing : 

  • He will follow Dogbert's management techniques and makes a good utilization of resources around him
  • He shows his accomplishments by creating a network of scientists calling these networks with flashy names
  • He steals ideas from here and there and just dumps on his associates and other employees like post docs, PhDs, students etc so that they take the pain and risk. He is fine. He is able to brand himself with the Number game -
    • Number of publications per years , per month,
    • the number of post doctoral researchers under his belt,
    • the expanse of space he has for his lab etc. 
    • Convenes some regular yearly functions, meetings , conferences -
    • creates a flashy posters,
    • brands the university, the organization,
    • exchanges business cards, follows them up and
    • creates some collaborations 

Wow!! if this is science and this is expected of a scientist, hmmm...Give me a break for Gods sake !!! whats going on ?

Just think, where are his energies spent ? and how are his energies spent ? whats his passion ? what is driving him?

I would go ahead and call this as SMART slavery - nothing more. This is not science. He is either his own slave - ie. he wants to impress some one else or he wants impress his own ego - both are illusions deep down. 

According to me:  Focus is what differentiates a scientist from a Manager.

A manager is generally addicted and/or trained to use all resources available under his hood, optimally (really ?).

A scientist is different: He knows and is conscious of his resources, but he identifies and restricts on what resources are valuable for him to be focussed and get the problem solved. There is no objective for manager other than optimally utilizing the resources. This is a no brainer for an intellectual and it is not as important as a scientists objectives.There is definitely not as much stress as a scientist would undergo in exploring solutions for the problems he is engaged in. 

The conclusion is Scientists life is more complex and more energy intentensive than a manager for sure. It is easy for a scientist to downgrade himself to a mere Managerial attitude from a serious scientific endevor. This is possibly the most common reason why most of scientists are also behaving like managers. Why would they do that : 

  1. Lack of Ideas: Idle mind is a devils workshop - these scientists most probably donot have ideas or problems for which they can propose a project and get money.
  2. Frustration and Depression - After struggling hard for 20 years, a scientist's project is trashed just because he could not connect or interact well with a smiling face and display social behavior with the funder / funding agency. This is a huge depression. Take the easy way out - and that is - ACT, Be a Roman in Rome. - so is this correct?
  3. The scientist is not in the good books of the funding agency or the reviewer committee.
  4. The funding decisions are in the hands of managers whose goal is to minimize the expenditure and increase the profits - Does science, where parameters are unknown, really be driven that way ? come on!! The funding agencies donot want to take the extra mile of understanding the true nature of the project/ problem. They want to go the easy way - the diplomatic term used is: Rising the bar for the projects with introducing few more documents - which essentially boils down to Dogbert's Management tricks.  

A scientist should be introspective where he needs time to focus on understanding the problem. It is all because of his passion to solve the problem at hand. He is conscious of his limited energies and resources. He wants to focus on solving the problem rather doing the above totally unnecessary things. In todays branding, introspective attitude or less talkative or being focussed and serious are considered -VE. 

It is the focus which gives break throughs. To be focussed he behaves very frank, cranky,  to some extent arrogant, very disturbed, and generally misunderstood for his actions. He definitely doesnt have time for flashy life style. There is more complications to this. Once a scientists shows some value, he / she will be deliberately pushed into luxury so that the manager will have the switch and control of the scientist. Basically by showing capabilities, the scientists is dragged into a trap of illusion of luxury life style. He gets enslaved. Wow!! what a strategy to have control.

He is committed to his passion i.e problem solving. Scientific exploration is his life not survival.

The manager above - that scientific post is his survival. He wants to stick his guns to as much time as possible. Scientific break throughs doesnt immediately get the attention of the public , especially the administrators who have the key to the salaries and positions. To impress them, these scientist managers will strive to create news and create an image. However, image is still an image. But since most of the administrators again are managers, they enjoy this scientist managers' petty activities. Hence he makes sure they assure his survival.

Now think about the bigger picture. How long ? Whats happening to the Science? Where is the real progress ?

Science is NOT survival, Science is Life. only if that attitude is upheld, progress happens, else every thing is useless.

India is investing so much money on infrastructure development copying the US of A. I dont know why dont think? Why are they so blind? Why dont they ask the simplest question: Is this necessary ? Why dont they realize and remember that US of A is a country where the population is 1/4 th of India and Land is 4 times more. They can construct and dismantle the infrastructure whenever they want and whenever they need. They have that space and the population is easy to be controled with more rules/slavery.

Whats the use of billions of dollars of infrastructure investments if there is no scientist - a true scientist - to solve a problem. This will be the fate of the world in the next 10 years. Every position will be occupied by managers and there will never be innovation, there will never be a solution. The whole world moves into desperation and all leads to Predator-Prey relationship - More animal behavior than Human.

The world is on the downward trend in all aspects and especially science, since higher scientific positions are taken up by administrators who dont have a clue nor understand the scientist, the problems, the content, the approach. In essence the power is in the WRONG HANDS.

To my understanding 99% of todays education systems and scientific organizations have flashy managers, not genuine scientists with objectives and passion. 

Thats about today's managers taking the scientist positions or why scientists are turning to lower energy states, less risky states.

Dogbert's Rules by Scott Adams - The inverse of Progress

One day, out of the blue I was compelled to read about 30 minutes notes from a book called 'Dogbert's top secrete Management tricks'.

The first thought was " Hurray !! I am on the right direction of analysis". Why ? 

I always felt that managers are infilterating every domain where they are suitable and where they are not supposed to be. 

Later I did some research and realized that Scott Adams had written this as a satire. People totally forgot that it is a satire and they should learn to understand the satire in the satirical way. But the unfortunate fact is: The guys / girls have made it their bible for survival, their bible for success and their bible for acting.

This always influences the progress. 

Interesting that Scott Adams has observed society so carefully and put all that in a satire. Unfortunately instead of doing good, it will eventually bring down economies because ACTING is much easier than BEING ONE. Acting cannot provide solutions. If lucky some solutions may be prove beneficial but in the long run they will influence in an irrevocable way.

He starts with saying : Acting like manager - How true it is. People have literally taking his statement. They are acting like managers.

Acting is Illusion, some day it is bound to break. How much will be the damage depends on

  • how much infestation has happened with the acting managers and
  • how much of these managers have created their hieraracy of less  and lesser intellectual resources below them with muddle heads

which obviously means - long term loss of intelligence and failure of the system. This also will be the fate of the countries where Flash, entertainment and media glitter is the norm. The core - I doubt. 

Some Dogbert's rules are : 

  • Management time fillers  - writing mission statements, renaming the department, it goes on
  • Clothes make a leader - Wow!! is that really true - think about it - Oh!!it was a satire right !!
  • Leaders do what their secretaries ask/schedule them to do
  • Ways to avoid making decisions -
    • Act confused,
    • form a task force of people who are too busy to meet,
    • send employees to find more data,
    • loose documents sent for approval,
    • say you are waiting for some other manager to 'get upto the speed'

Think about these aspects when adapted in a serious science environment -

  • the boss says - he never got the document
  • the boss says - he is waiting for the collaborator to respond for heads up - truth is he never contacted
  • the boss says - he asks for more data
  • the boss says - he asks for more validation  

imagine where is the progress going - definitely to dogs.
